Here is what I try to do when something offends me.
Every time that happens, I just try to stop my thoughts for a second and take a deep breath. I look inwards, into my own self. Why? Because each time I get offended, I am introduced to one of my vulnerabilities, my weaknesses.
Every thought, opinion, or activity which makes me feel the need to take umbrage is a potential opportunity. It’s an opportunity as it exposes one’s weakness and gives oneself a chance to learn to get over those loose strings.
Once you know what your equanimity and peace is vulnerable to, only then can conquer and overcome it. Else, you only harbour your weaknesses into yourself which never helps. Never.
